Whatever Your Stepmom Says

The story

Dad has a work trip, so his wife Ava gets the keys, the house and his son. Do whatever the stepmom says, Dad tells his son. She turns that into a rulebook: his phone goes to the kitchen, he knocks before entering her room, and a third rule is saved for later. Then the stepson forgets to knock, sees more than he should and thinks he's gotten away with it. In episode 2 she walks right in to say otherwise: he stood there for a whole minute. She doesn't mind. Rule three, it turns out, is that this time he watches.

Where the heat comes from

Obedience is the game: a stepmom who sets the rules, a stepson who keeps getting caught and a father trusting both of them. Free viewing is orders, a missed knock and a stare that lasts a beat too long.

Who it suits

Rules that escalate, a firmly in-charge stepmom and a stepson who keeps failing the one about knocking: a tidy pick for obedience-game fans.
