Her Stepmom Is the Boss

The story

Jake's girlfriend pulls strings to land him a position at her stepmother's company. Mrs. Margot Vey turns out to run the entire floor, with a glare that empties a conference room in seconds. She tells the team slide four is wrong, then praises Jake as the only person willing to be straight with her, and invites him to stay late. His girlfriend texts that she's coming up, so he bolts, and Margot's verdict is tonight, her office. Episode 2 finds him telling his girlfriend he's working late, which is true, just not for the company. Margot locks the door, tells him to keep the job, and handles the rest herself. Then her stepdaughter phones to ask if Jake is behaving.

Where the heat comes from

Office power does the work: a boss who can end his career with one sentence, a girlfriend who is also her stepdaughter, and a deadline for hiding it. Sharp orders and closed doors are as far as the free episodes go.

Who it suits

For anyone who likes a commanding, polished boss, an overmatched new hire, and flirtation that happens between meetings.
