The Man Next Door Knows

The story

Amanda's husband is delayed again and will be away longer than planned. Then a new neighbor turns up, out of sugar, bulbs and, he jokes, dignity, and she finds him a light bulb. He uses her bathroom, tells her she has a gift for making people comfortable and that it's rare, and then he calls her Amanda, though she never told him. Episode 2 has Amanda telling her friend Sarah that the neighbor blamed the mailbox, though she suspects he's hiding something. Sarah finds it thrilling and nudges her to cheat, since everyone knows her husband already does. Then Sarah wonders aloud if the neighbor might be the man who once told Amanda the truth.

Where the heat comes from

The charge is attention: a wife who feels invisible, a stranger who sees her, and an unanswered question about how he knew. Free episodes stay at doorstep talk, longing and suspicion; anything further sits behind tokens.

Who it suits

Slow-burn suspense, a lonely wife in a quiet house and a neighbor whose motives stay delightfully unclear.
