The Chief's Private Detail

The story

The department has one loud rule: nobody lays a finger on the chief. Cole is the rookie no one wanted as a partner, and on his first day Chief Vera Lancaster puts him on her personal night detail anyway. The squad smirks. Episode 1 lets Vera explain the pick: the rest of the station keeps their eyes down as she goes by, while Cole holds her stare. Then she points out a loophole in the policy, since it only restricts his hands, not hers. She sends him out for his shift with a promise that she isn't finished with him.

Where the heat comes from

Rank is the turn-on: she can end his career with one report, and she keeps inviting him to risk it anyway. Episode 1 is all charged eye contact and loaded orders, with the night shifts doing the rest later.

Who it suits

Built for fans of uniforms, authority games and a boss who enjoys making the rookie sweat.
